Leads enforce food safety, GMPs, and company policy with team members assigned to their line, as well as instruct, lead, teach, and manage the team members within their department.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Consistent and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible schedules as business needs demand.
  • Ability to work with or around food allergens of all types.
  • Must be able to work within a team environment, treat all with respect – no fighting.
  • Must have the ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours without a break and a maximum of 12 hours with a break. There are NO sitting positions or jobs.
  • Must be able to wear/utilize personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces. (Spiral, oven area, etc)
Order raw materials for the department.
Get the schedule and all the forms for the department.
Program and verify the proper functionality of controls and process or packaging equipment.
Report all accidents to the supervisor and Safety Director.
 Maintain consistent line time or ensure trained personnel oversee production functions.
Ensure all associates are in their positions and on time.
Perform any basic activity or function of any associate in the department.
Report associate performance to the supervisor.
Participate in product recall.
Schedule and perform product change.
Re-pack product as needed.
Ensure all products have a production tag.
Verify packaging, seal, date and weight in all products.
Keep the department organized and clean.
Support the supervisor in any safety, productivity, and quality meeting.
Complete the information of all assigned documents.
Check functionality of metal detector and check weightier and adjust as needed.
Complete the white boards for general labors with the code date and packages per tray/tote of any product to be produced.
Support the supervisor with the daily production reports.
Input information in SAP.
Perform monthly and weekly inventory.
Fill out the productivity parameters white board with the information from the previous day.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

Physical demands and work environment:
Physical demands:    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to climb, balance, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use hands to finger, grasp, or feel objects, talk or communicate, hear, visually inspect areas to be cleaned, and repetitive motions substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands and/or fingers.  
 Work environment: Heavy work exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Exposure to cold and freezing temperatures in the coolers and freezers areas. Exposure to high heat while in the warehouse, especially during summer months.

Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications required:
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Basic computer/data entry knowledge.
Qualifications desired:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Knowledge of food processing equipment, GMP’s, USDA and FDA requirements.
  • One (1) year experience in production/manufacturing/bakery food plant.
  • Experience as a key trainer for equipment/procedures/policies.
  • Working knowledge of production scheduling procedures.
  • Able to differentiate units of measure and accurately record production data.
  • Knowledge of line positions and process of running the department line.
