Primarily responsible to provide excellent support to Quality Manager and excellent customer service to all associates and visitors. The Quality Control Receiving Technician for Café Valley will inspect raw materials and lot numbers of incoming supplies for conformance to specifications.
Responsibilities
Assist in examining raw materials or packaging for defects such as cracks, holes, foreign material, and damage and validate lot numbers with quantities to the bill of lading.
Verifies specific aspects of raw materials and help develop detailed specifications for raw materials and packaging.
Monitor, record, and initiate corrections if needed for freezer and cooler temperatures.
Monitor filtration records for raw bulk ingredients.
Perform sifter bucket tailing inspection and screen integrity inspection.
Operate any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job.
Communicate with suppliers and develop relationship to achieve all documentation necessary for all materials supplied.
Conduct weekly GMP audit with plant team.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Takes measurements and weights of raw materials using a caliper and scale. Results are populated onto an excel spreadsheet.
- Trailers/trucks shall be visually inspected for damaged containers and spillage.
- Communicates with R&D and Production Manager & QC Manager if there is an ingredient or label change.
- Assures that ingredients are being received in correctly.
- Determines acceptable conditions of the trailers (inbound / outbound).
- Verifies all incoming raw materials inner box and master case labels matches with raw material specs on every load received.
- Verifies all incoming ingredients for accuracy, if they match the B.O.L and if correct ingredient was sent in.
- Report any issues regarding food safety or quality to QA Manager
- Works with porters during shift to make sure dry storage, shipping / receiving areas, coolers and freezers are clean.
- Adhere to all GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices), such as good hand washing practices and adhering to the employee hygiene plan.
- Follow all FDA guidelines
- Receives and reviews Certificates of Analyses (COAs) for accuracy and completeness.
- Has authority to receive or reject incoming product / ingredient.
- Ensures that all products in the cooler and freezer are labeled and covered correctly.
- Ensures that inbounds and outbound workers are following GMP.
- Collects samples to be sent to the lab for micro testing.
- Records lot traceability information.
- Ensures safety and cleanliness of all laboratory equipment.
- Ensures all allergen products are tagged correctly, and placed in the correct locations.
- Assist any and all employees with questions regarding food safety and quality.
- Has authority to place product on hold and to take disposition of affected product
- As needed, perform QA inspections on the production line.
Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
6 months related experience and/or training
Ability to input data into a PC spreadsheet
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Experience in food manufacturing/processing/bakery
Knowledge of BRC/SQF requirements
