The Director of Supply Chain provides leadership and direction to the local supply chain team.  The team includes Customer Service, Transportation, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Inventory Control.  The Director provides both strategic and tactical support for the team and works to ensure the overall success of the facility.    This position works directly with the VP of Supply Chain to develop sustainable practices within the supply chain to support the company’s vision.



  • Consistent and dependable attendance.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces. (Spiral, oven area, freezer etc)
  • Must be able to wear/utilize personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain the entire planning process, including procurement, scheduling, inventory control, distribution and logistics.
  • Ensure that each step of the process is being performed effectively and accurately to avoid costly delays, loss of raw or finished goods product.
  • Communicate continually with personnel and line managers, reviewing inventory control, distribution and logistics of the raw and finished product.
  • Review steps to improve handling and flow of raw or produced material to save on reduction of cost and waste.
  • Getting information, observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
  • Making decisions and problem-solving analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution
  • and solve problems.
  • Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
  • Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists.
  • Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store materials.
  • Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
  • Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, or to discuss production forecasts or changes.
  • Implement new or improved supply chain processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers.
  • Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
  • Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers.
  • Design or implement plant warehousing strategies for production materials or finished products.
  • Confer with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
  • Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success.
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving.
  • Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance.
  • Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.

Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field
  • Prior management experience
  • Experience in logistics, inventory control, planning and procurement.
  • Computer skill knowledge of internet navigation, Microsoft software knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Skills to assimilate to company computer system requirements
Qualifications desired:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Manufacturing industry experience, bakery/dessert production facility preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain an outstanding relationship with different groups of people including vendors, distributors, sales, R&D and marketing.
  • Excellent team working abilities and the capacity to direct and coach others
