The Assistant Plant Manager is primarily responsible for “assisting” the Plant Manager in running the day-to-day business functions of the Plant. The Assistant Plant Manager for Café Valley will support the Plant Manager in planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources across all teams and departments necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. The Assistant Plant Manager will also act as Plant Manager in the absence of the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Support the Plant Manager in Managing all aspects of the Production units to include: People and production schedules, inventory, quality systems, maintenance needs, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments and cost controls.
- Assist the Plant Manager and CI Manager in ensuring that Gembas are held every 4 hours and on all production lines.
- Ensure that Redzone is properly used and quality goals and criteria are consistently met.
- Direct or coordinate people scheduling and production operations activities.
- Direct Lean events such as kaizens and optimizations in the unit to focus in improvement efforts.
- Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
- Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel issues.
- Prepare and maintain production reports or personnel records.
- Ensure that the integrity of corporate programs like the Fast Track and Mentor Programs are upheld at all levels.
- Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
- Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in food manufacturing/processing/bakery.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Lean certifications are preferred.
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
